It's just one week until the big event: The First Annual Pink Friday Trivia Night! We are beyond thrilled that the event is SOLD OUT! Our banquet room will be filled to capacity...and that is fabulous news. In addition to food, drink and trivia - there will also be a silent auction that evening. There will be a variety of fabulous items that have been donated from all over the country. 

Just to pique your interest, we will be showcasing a few items over the next few days. So bring your checkbooks (or paypal accounts) and get ready to bid on these wonderful items. Most importantly, all proceeds from the Silent Auction will directly benefit local Kansas City parents dealing with a cancer diagnosis. 

Today's Showcase:  A custom-made "Live Beautiful" blanket!

This luxurious blanket was hand-made by seamstress Jenn Stogsdill in the signature Pink Laundry colors. It is double-sided, with one side being hot pink "Minky dimple dot fabric" and the other "Minky" zebra print. (Silky soft, Minky fabric resembles real mink in touch.  It has a soft short pile that is as soft as cashmere.) In addition, the blanket has a satin polka dot edge and custom embroidery. It is truly one-of-a-kind!

Pink Friday: Silent Auction Items

Pink Friday Trivia Night

Please join us on February 10th, 2012 at the Lee's Summit Brew Top for the first ever Pink Friday Trivia Night! In addition to a crazy fun trivia competition, there will be a silent auction and private concert with Art Bentley. Limited seating and advance reservations required via the purchase of a ticket.

Tickets are $40 per person, which includes entry, first drink, a "Live Beautiful" cup and light appetizers. The event will hold a limited amount of people due to the nature of the trivia event. The tables will be situated in parties of eight people. During the trivia portion of the evening, your table will be a "team" competing for a prize. (To be guaranteed seating with friends, you are encouraged to purchase an entire table of eight. Otherwise, parties may be split to accommodate seating.)

 

-Event opens at 7:00pm

-Silent Auction all evening

-Trivia Competition starts at 8:00pm

-Live music from 10:00pm - 1:00am

...and a happy new year

Welcome 2012! It's so exciting to usher in a new year, and what a bright year we have planned for the Stephanie Vest Foundation. It's thrilling to report that we had a record-breaking fundraising season for the foundation. We are proud to announce that together we've collected over $26K to assist Kansas Citians fighting cancer. And as you know, our grants help to pay for the things that are sometimes overlooked by insurance plans. We help pay the day-to-day expenses that often "make or break" a family's existence during an extended illness.

Since the Pink Laundry 5K in October, we've been able to help two mothers - both fighting breast cancer. Using the race proceeds, we have been able to offer significant financial assistance to these families.

The first recipient is a young mother from Olathe who discovered a lump in her breast just after the birth of her second child. Because they have no family in town...it was difficult for her to care for her young children and clean the house during the months of chemotherapy. We were able to subsidize their house keeping expenses during this time. In addition, we helped coordinate travel expenses for her entire family of five to visit Oregon during the holidays. This was their first trip home since her diagnosis last spring.

The second recipient is a young mother from Wyandotte county who also discovered her breast cancer after the birth of a child. We were able to pay their mortgage for three months and some extraneous expenses while she has been unemployed due to chemotherapy treatments. 

It is such a blessing to give...and to pay it forward to families in need. Thank you for you generous support in 2011. Stay tuned for big things happening in the near future.

As we make plans for 2012, it seemed fitting to share this wonderful quote that encapsulates the hope of a new year. Enjoy!

Many thanks to all of the wonderful individuals and organizations who have supported the Stephanie Vest Foundation in 2011. With your help, we've been able to offer financial assistance to Kansas City parents when they need it the most: After a debilitating cancer diagnosis. Our foundation helps to cover unforeseen expenses that arise during treatments & recovery. We thank you for helping us pay-it-forward to other families, in the same fashion that folks helped the Vests three years ago.

As you may know, Christmas was one of Stephanie's favorite holidays. She loved to celebrate with great flair and zest. (Read: sparkles and spangles.) And this year, we encourage everyone to do five simple things to continue Stephanie's beautiful legacy:

 

1. Hug your loved ones.

2. Count your blessings.

3. Reflect on the "gift" of simple daily chores.

4. Pay-it-forward...spread kindness wherever you go.

3. And last but not least, celebrate the Reason for the season.
